In 1984 the State mandated that the counties enact a Stormwater Management Ordinance to protect the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. MDE created design standards for the quantitative and qualitative management of runoff from developments. The Engineering Division is responsible for administering the County’s stormwater management program. This involves plan reviews, construction inspections, maintenance inspections, enforcement actions and program administration. In order to facilitate approval of these plans guidelines, checklists, forms and applications have been developed and are readily available to developers and their design consultants.
