COMMUNICATIONS

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center has an authorized strength of nine (9) Police Communication Specialists (PCS), which includes one supervisor. There are currently eight (8) trained specialists, and one (1) in training.

***Note that the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office also dispatched calls for the Delmar and Fruitland Police Departments, 16 hours each day and 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to these significant communication responsibilities, Police Communication Specialists are the first point of contact between the agency and the public. As a part of their duties, PCS’s are obligated to obtain motor vehicle registration information, driver’s license data and criminal wants and warrants on thousands of individuals annually.
