Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program FY 2007
Local Solicitation

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office along with the Salisbury City Police Department is eligible under FY 2007 JAG funding in the amount of $68,751.00 dollars. These Agencies have been designated as disparate jurisdiction and have agreed to share the award with the City of Salisbury receiving $34,376.00 dollars and Wicomico County receiving $34,375.00 dollars.

The City of Salisbury will continue to utilize these grants with all funding going toward technology. With previous LLEBG and JAG awarded grants, the City has built and expanded the Eastern Shore Mobile Data Network. In addition to this network, the City has networked with various agencies.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office plans to use there funding for the placement of mobile data computers, In-Car Cameras and technology upgrades. The mobile data computers will be connecting to a regional mobile data network and used for, among several tasks, information sharing among different law enforcement agencies. The in-car cameras will be utilized for the documentation of evidence that may involve high risk traffic stops involving weapons, gang members, drug violations. The remainder will be utilized for technology upgrades needed to keep pace for the support units that service these officers.
