Wicomico County Maryland enforces the INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE (IBC), 2003 EDITION w/all the addenda thereto and amendments, the INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE (IRC), 2003 EDITION, and the current edition of the MARYLAND ACCESSIBILITY CODE.  Upon review and approval of site and construction plans, permits are issued for building construction, which includes, but not limited to, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional structures, as well as, remodeling, additions, alterations, mobile homes, accessory buildings, swimming pools, etc.  A Site Plan, Building Plan, and Well & Septic Permit, are all necessary in order to obtain a Building Permit.  Zoning, Setbacks, Flood Plain, Critical Areas, and Forest Conservation standards, require approval from the Department of Planning & Zoning as part of the permit process.  Sign Permits, Demolition Permits, and Moving Permits are also issued in accordance with the Building and Zoning Code standards.  On-site building inspections are required to insure code compliance.
