BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
PLANNING COMMISSION
Salisbury and Wicomico County have established legally separate Planning Commissions, but
use the same seven people to serve as members. Each jurisdiction has three appointments,
with the seventh member selected jointly. The commission is an advisory body on planning,
zoning, and development issues, including rezoning, subdivision, and site plan review.
The Commission meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm in Room 301 at the
Government Office Building, Salisbury. These meetings are open to the public.

SALISBURY-WICOMICO BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
The City of Salisbury and Wicomico County Boards of Zoning Appeals review
applications for special exceptions and variances from the respective Zoning Code based on
information presented by the applicant and supplemental data provided by staff members. In
addition, the Boards hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that that there is an
error in determinations or decisions made by the respective Planning Department Directors.
All meetings are open to the public.
The City of Salisbury Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the first Thursday
of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Room 301 of the Government Office Building.

The Wicomico County Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the last Tuesday and
Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Room 301 of the Government Office Building.

WICOMICO COUNTY HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
The Wicomico County Historic District Commission is a seven-member board responsible for
the review of all construction or demolition activity affecting the external appearance of
buildings within approved Historic Districts. Currently, only one Historic District
(Quantico) has been established.
The Historic District Commission meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in
Room 301 of the Government Office Building.

WICOMICO COUNTY AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD
The County Agricultural Land Preservation District Advisory Board meets as needed in
response to applications for the formation of Agriculture Preservation Districts. The
Advisory Board reviews such applications for compliance with published criteria and makes
recommendation to the County Council on the merit of each application.
