NEW COUNTY EXECUTIVE MAKES PUBLIC INFORMATION APPOINTMENT

For Immediate Release

Salisbury, MD

December 7, 2006

James V. Fineran has been appointed Wicomico County Public Information Officer by County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. Mr. Fineran will report directly to Mr. Pollitt and will assume the responsibilities of the position immediately. In announcing the appointment, Mr. Pollitt said: “I believe our citizens are entitled to a constant, reliable flow of information about their County Government. The best way to do this is to assign this responsibility to a county official who is dedicated to this important task.”

Mr. Pollitt added that the scope of the position does not include disseminating information for the Wicomico County Council.

Mr. Fineran has held executive news information and marketing communications positions with Delmarva Power, Dresser Industries, Heineken-Fineran, Inc., and the former Salisbury State College. He also was a news anchor and field reporter with WBOC-TV AM & FM in the early 1970s.

In accepting the appointment, Mr. Fineran said: “During the County Executive

campaign, Mr. Pollitt referred to a desire to govern in a ‘glass house.’ It is my intention to create a public information program that will help fulfill that goal of openness and integrity for the benefit of the people of this county.”
