Duties: Meet established sales goals and quotas for leads, new and booked business. Research and maintain a list of all state, regional and national sports tournament planners and other industry professionals. Establish relationships directly with tournament planners on a local, state, regional and national level. Develop sports tournaments. Establish local sports support organizations; budget development & execution; secure sponsors and advertisers; team recruitment; secure facilities; prepare schedules; and procure event staff, equipment and materials. Implement and utilize proven, creative, and approved sales techniques. Assist with creating necessary publications and other promotional materials. Meet the service needs (including transportation, lodging, spouse/family activities of the event participants in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Convention/Visitors Bureau. Supervise the Event Support Staff. Oversee bookings done by Housing Bureau and all packaging related to sporting events, groups, conventions.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field. Three years experience preferred as Organized Sports Director. Comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
