EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE
What is the LEPC ?
A committee that brings together private industry, local government, and private citizens for the purpose of planning for hazardous materials incidents in the best interest of the community. This group works under the authority administered under Title III of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA).
Wicomico County has a active Local Emergency Planning Committee (L.E.P.C.), made up of members from Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Fire Departments, Schools, County Extension Office, Local Media, Local Hospital, Local Governments (City and County), State officials, Private industry, Planning and Zoning, and Community/Citizens Groups.
The Wicomico County LEPC shall plan for those areas relating to the safe storage, transportation, and utilization of hazardous materials as they apply to public safety. LEPC activities shall emphasize but not limited to:
The prevention of accidents;
Forming a timely response method;
Recovery and protection of life, property and the environment from the spill or release of hazardous materials.

Requests
Inquires to the LEPC will be forwarded to the
LEPC Information Coordinator. Inquires maybe be made verbally (410-548-4820),
but must be followed up in writing by mail or fax within (5) days. Inquires
should be mailed to LEPC Information Coordinator,
Inquires will be followed up on as per Title III of the Superfund Act with responses within (45) days of the written request.
