I have always brushed off recycling like "who cares?" or "no one else does so why should I?" Or "it doesn't matter nor make a difference". I understand that half the recyclables are still thrown away because of improper separation and im sure it can be quite the burden on our budget as well. But there is no excuse for skimping on preserving the environment. As silly n as blunt as this may sounds...I now understand we should not "crap, poo, or sh** where we eat"...a concept I never cared for in the past. Please lead our community....our county, our state, and our country by example and provide better support and thus promotion of recycling! There is no excuse for a recycling drop off center to look like a dump. These are the people that care most about our children, our future, and our planet. Please support us!

I would like to suggest that the Wicomico County Solid Waste Division supply plastic bags and tools for picking up roadside waste to any person or group that would volunteer to help clean up the waste tossed to the roadside. This should come together in some way to encourage community groups to pick or be assigned areas to work. The collected waste, tools, and any unused plastic bags were returned. The amount of waste collected would be weighed and posted for others to compete.
