The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) is an Organization of Federal Communication Commission (FCC) licensed amateur radio operators who volunteer during times of emergencies to provide radio communications for State and Local Governments.
RACES is utilized to provide emergency communications for civil preparedness purposes during disasters. Operators are required to be licensed radio amateurs certified by the Civil Defense Agency.
